The Supreme Court today slammed the bureaucracy for its insensitive and callous approach towards the suffering of millions of people. A bench comprising Justices B N Agarwal and G S Singhvi was annoyed with the casual attitude of the State Chief Secretaries and DGPs who failed to respond to the notice of the apex court to fix accountability of police officers who refused to register FIRs.

Commoners, often harassed by the police's refusal to register FIRs (first information reports), have turned the tables on the men in khaki, thanks to the Supreme Court.
